This winter recruitment period proves to be a period of feverish speculation and possible major moves. Several high-profile players are being linked with transfers away from their present teams. Here is a look at a selection of the key figures that might be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the player available, it appears a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a sizeable buy-out clause active for a short window at the start of the month. Latest reports suggest the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Former interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to other targets, leaving teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute bid.

This English defender has continued to excel for Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the club's last chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top sides, including City and several continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. However, a January departure remains difficult, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Welsh winger has had starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has begun just a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the North London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the correct valuation, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an interest.

Rúben Neves

The Portuguese midfielder might be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, and with his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a possible opportunity. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the former Wolves man.
